Glory to God in the highest,
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks,
we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world:
have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father;
receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.
We say the Gloria every Sunday at Mass...it is such a wonderful prayer which I have recited since I was a child. Over recent months it has become more meaningful to me as I recognize the power of these words to glorify and praise God in one beautiful prayer. When we pray the Gloria we are praising God for his glory while recognizing his power and might. It also reminds us of his ability to take away our sins and have mercy on us. In this prayer we humbly ask Jesus, the One who is seated at the right hand of the Father, who is the Most High, to recieve our prayer... I now pray/sing the Gloria everyday and it puts a certain peace in my heart.
